Redefining ATD Certification Efficiency

The Humanetics PDC Test System sets a new standard for ATD certification, combining pendulum, drop, and compression testing in a single, fully integrated platform. Engineered for precision, repeatability, and ease of use, it enables engineers to complete up to five traditional certification tests without changing systems or setups. By consolidating multiple test benches into one compact, turnkey unit, the PDC dramatically improves workflow efficiency and laboratory throughput.
Every detail of the system has been designed for performance and operator comfort — from optimized working heights and ergonomic layouts to automated setup routines that reduce human error. Built for OEMs, test labs, and safety development teams, the PDC Test System provides the perfect balance of speed, accuracy, and traceability.

Complete Multi-Test Capability in One Compact System

The PDC Test System unites all essential ATD certification tests in one space-efficient, configurable unit. It supports the following tests:

   -  Neck Pendulum
   -  Foot Impact
   -  Head & Rip Drop
   -  Static &  Quasi-Static Compression
   -  aPLI and FlexPLI Pendulum and Bending

Operators can seamlessly switch between test configurations using the system’s guided workflow and intelligent mounting features, such as the rotatable THOR mounting plate, designed for faster transitions and enhanced efficiency. This integration eliminates the need for multiple stand-alone rigs, reduces downtime between tests, and guarantees consistent mechanical conditions across all certification tasks. The result is a significant gain in repeatability and efficiency — a single system capable of managing the full certification scope for today’s most advanced ATDs.

Precision Through Pendulum Deceleration Control

At the core of the PDC Test System is the option to equip the platform with Humanetics’ Pendulum Deceleration Control (PDS) — an advanced alternative to traditional honeycomb-based method. Customers can configure the PDC with either the honeycomb method or the PDS linear motor system, depending on their testing requirements.

The PDS technology replaces consumable delay elements with a high-precision linear motor, giving engineers direct, programmable control over the pendulum’s deceleration profile. This results in significantly improved test repeatability, with performance gains that vary depending on the specific comparison criteria and test conditions. Instead of relying on material hardness or batch variability, laboratories achieve stable, repeatable deceleration curves that remain consistent from test to test.

Operators can adjust target deceleration characteristics instantly via the intuitive software slider, eliminating manual component handling and ensuring consistent execution across all ATD certification scenarios. With supported impact velocities up to 7.2 m/s, the PDS delivers highly controlled, reliable performance across the full range of pendulum-based ATD tests.
