David Ward is President Emeritus of the Global New Car Assessment Programme, supporting independent consumer safety ratings and NCAP collaboration worldwide. He chairs the Stop the Crash Partnership, advocating for crash avoidance technologies. Previously, he served as Director General of the FIA Foundation (2001–2013), Secretary of the Commission for Global Road Safety (2006–2015), and a founding Board Member of Euro NCAP (1996–2006). Earlier, he led FIA’s EU office, advised the UK Opposition Leader, worked for UNICEF, and was a journalist. He holds a BA in philosophy from London University.
